EPD's gun buyback is this Saturday

Carolyn Dykes Murray is an Evanston gun-violence-prevention activist and member of Moms Demand Action Evanston. Carolyn, along with her son Justin, organized the first EPD gun buy-back in 2012. Tragically, Justin was shot and killed just two weeks before the event.

This Saturday, the Evanston Police Department will host its second buy-back of the year from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 8 at the Unitarian Church of Evanston, 1330 Ridge. Participants will receive $100 for each functional gun received.

Recently, Moms Demand Action member and Evanston physician Traci Armer Kurtzer sat down with Carolyn to talk about the research that went into setting up that first buy-back, which resulted in 45 guns being removed from the Evanston community.
