Democratic Party of Evanston's annual forum at ETHS. Focus: fighting hate speech.

If you can't make it (registration is closed), Dear Evanston will be live-streaming it so you can watch it as it happens--or watch at your convenience.

This is such an important topic for anyone who works to be an upstander and to fight hate in all its forms.

Featuring:

The Evanston Township High School (ETHS) debate team speaking about potential responses to and solutions for preventing hate speech;

Lecia Brooks, chief workplace transformation officer, Southern Poverty Law Center speaking on the history of hate speech in the US, current trends, and white nationalism;

Gilo Kwesi Cornell Logan, president, Logan Consulting services, and co-author of the brand-new Evanston/Skokie School District 65 curriculum, "Power, Profile, and Place of the N Word;"

Kelly Szany, vice president of education and exhibitions, Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center speaking on current US parallels to the Nazi/Holocaust era and genocides; and U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky who will engage in discussion with students.
