Robin DiAngelo, author of "White Fragility," speaks in Chicago.

Dear Evanston,

I recently received information in my inbox that Dr. Robin DiAngelo, author of "White Fragility: Why it's so Hard for White People to Talk about Racism," will be offering a half-day workshop in Chicago from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 9.

The workshop will take place at the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St.

Ticket prices are pretty steep for many of us (a sliding scale of $130 to $160/ticket), so I emailed to find out if there is any assistance for folks who can't afford the cost. I'm impressed that her assistant emailed me back right away.

"We always provide scholarships to low-income and BIPOC people interested in attending her public workshops," he wrote. "They only need ask."

He recommends contacting the organizers, Education For Racial Equity at educationforracialequity@gmail.com or here. They handle all logistics, scholarships and registration.

Meantime, here is more information about the January workshop.
