Out of tragedy, progress: North Shore's first year-round women's transitional shelter planned.

Updated: Jul 22

Connections for the Homeless and First United Methodist Church of Evanston have partnered to open "Daisy’s Place," a year-round transitional shelter for women.

Connections and First United were inspired to found the shelter after Tanuel Major, who was better known as 'Daisy,' was murdered on the steps of First United Methodist Church in November 2018.

The shelter will be the first on the North Shore dedicated to housing homeless women and will open this year.

The shelter will be located at First United Methodist Church, 516 Church St.

Watch the memorial service that was held for Tanuel Major last year, led by First Methodist Pastor Grace Imathiu, below.

Please share this post so folks know about the new shelter, but note that you'll need to make sure you're not only sharing the video! Cut and then paste this copy when you share!

This is outstanding news.
