EVANSTON: Urgent Need for Raincoats, Blankets, and Care Packages for Evanston's Homeless

It rained all day today. And it's going to rain all day tomorrow. And if you're an Evanstonian experiencing homelessness, right now there's simply nowhere to go to for shelter.

Connections for the Homeless can only accommodate 10 people at a time during the day, and Hilda's Place is at capacity for overnight shelter. With the library, community centers, and restaurant seating areas shuttered, Evanstonians who are homeless have been ... left out in the rain.

Dear Evanston has been asked to put out an emergency call for blankets, raincoats, and care packages for our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness.

Please take these items directly to the drop-in center at 2121 Dewey from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., or email Michele S. Hays at Backontheirfeetevanstonil@gmail.com. She will connect you to other porch drop-off locations run by volunteers.
