Ald. Fleming leads state initiative to elevate family voice in early childcare programs.
Councilmember Cicely Fleming, 9, announced recently her new state initiative, Birth to Five Illinois, to improve the early childhood education system will kick off next month.
“Beyond excited to announce this new effort to bring access, quality, and parent voice to the early childhood education system,” Fleming tweeted on January 14. “Our team has been unapologetic in following through on the commitment to build a state infrastructure based on racial equity.”
Fleming's last day on Evanston's City Council is February 15. She began work on the state initiative last year, when she became State Director for Regional and Community Systems.
