Black Evanstonians can now apply for the Evanston Local Reparations Restorative Housing Program.

The City of Evanston is now accepting eligibility applications for its Local Reparations Restorative Housing Program. Eligible individuals may qualify for up to $25,000 to be used toward the purchase of a home, home improvement, or to pay down mortgage principal.



How to apply


The mobile-friendly application is available online or here.


The application deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021.


Applications will not be approved until after the November 5 deadline; eligible individuals can submit their application any time prior to the November 5 deadline.


Assistance


Community members can get help with their application during on-site office hours at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St., on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Wednesdays, from noon to 5 p.m., through November 3.

Research


Applicants can research documents to show proof of eligibility at the main Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave, and the Evanston History Center, 225 Greenwood St.

All applicants must demonstrate eligibility consistent with the Restorative Housing Program guidelines.
