Black Lives Matter March For Justice and Peace

The march, "The Black Lives Matter March for Justice and Peace (BLMMJP)," drew about 3,000 young people from Evanston and Skokie, started at McCormick and Golf headed to McCormick and Dempster and ended back at McCormick and Golf.
Marchers chanted "No justice, no peace, no racist police," "Say his name; George Floyd," "Say her name, Breona Taylor," and "Black lives matter."
At Dempster, marchers sat, lay, or kneeled on the street for eight minutes and 48 seconds to observe a silence marking the amount of time Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kept his knee on George Floyd's neck causing his death. Several young people addressed the crowd.
