City's Reparations subcommittee to host virtual Town Hall, tomorrow, Thursday, August 27.

Members of the Evanston community are invited to join the City's Reparations Subcommittee for a Town Hall on Thursday, August 27 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Registration is full, but you can watch on the City's TV channel 16 or on the City's You Tube.

During the webinar, members of the subcommittee will provide updates on the Subcommittee's progress. Spencer Jourdain will provide the keynote address.

Other guest speakers include Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, lead sponsor of HB40, which establishes the Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African-Americans, and actor and humanitarian Danny Glover, who spoke at the first Town Hall.

Spencer Jourdain is the youngest son of Evanston’s first African American Alderman, Edwin B. Jourdain, Jr., and is a product of the Evanston school system. Jourdain is a Harvard cum laude degreed historian and author. His published five-volume work, The Dream Dancers, provides an insightful multicultural perspective on today’s issues, illustrated through the true lives of his family lineage and unsung people of color spanning family migration from Massachusetts and Georgia into Evanston. Jourdain has lectured nationally on his historical work, and globally related to his work in sustainable futures.
