CNP introduces members of Evanston's Citizen Police Review Commission
Join the The Citizens' Network of Protection - Evanston, IL tonight on Zoom from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. as they introduce the first of the nine newly appointed members of Evanston's Citizen Police Review Commission.
Tonight you'll meet Juneitha Shambee, who represents the 4th ward on the commission.
The Citizen Police Review Commission was established as a subcommittee of the City’s Human Services Committee, for the following purposes:
To promote public confidence in the professionalism and accountability of the Evanston Police Department through unbiased review of the investigation of citizen complaints, thoughtful policy recommendations;
To add a citizen perspective to the evaluation of citizen complaints;
To provide a timely, fair and objective review of citizen complaints and the manner which they are investigated; and
To provide a systematic means to achieve continuous improvement in citizen and police interactions.
The eight other recently appointed commissioners, who will be introduced one by one by CNP ever other week, are:
