Covid-19 statistics for Illinois
Today the state announced 1,532 new known cases of COVID-19 and 19 additional fatalities, bringing the total number of known cases to 168,457 and the statewide death toll to 7,385 since the start of the pandemic.
All new confirmed deaths were in Cook, DuPage, or Winnebago counties. The new numbers come a day after officials announced the highest daily total of new cases since Memorial Day, 1,624 new infections.
The Chicago Tribune reports that state health officials announced that four Illinois counties are considered to be at a “warning level” for COVID-19. Adams, LaSalle, Peoria and Randolph all “saw outbreaks associated with business and risky behavior,” officials said.
Officials also reported 44,330 new tests in the last 24 hours. The seven-day statewide positivity rate is 3.4%.
