Covid-19 statistics for Illinois
Today the Chicago Tribune reported that Illinois announced 1,195 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, the third straight day with total cases above the 1,000 mark. The last time the state tallied three days above 1,000 was the last three days in May. New deaths from Covid-19 stayed relatively low with 24 announced, but deaths are an indicator that lags behind cases.
The state is testing more than 11,000 samples a day this week than it was during the end of May so the positivity rate, the number of positive cases divided by the number of total tests, is lower. The state announced 32,345 test results Saturday.
