Covid-19 statistics for Illinois
Today the state announced 1,598 new known cases of COVID-19 and 23 additional fatalities, bringing the total number of known cases to 165,301 and the statewide death toll to 7,347 since the start of the pandemic. The state also announced the results of 39,633 new test results.
In a news conference today, Governor Pritzker said that though Illinois has a positivity rate half that of neighboring states, COVID-19 has “no boundaries” and it would not take long to reverse the state’s progress.
He also called for Illinois residents to wear masks and chided the politicization of the virus.
“This virus is not a blue state virus or a red state virus … going out without a mask is not a political statement,” he said.
