DC James Pickett retires

Congratulations, Deputy Chief James Pickett, on your retirement after 28 years of service to the Evanston Police Department.

Here's DC Picket with gun legislation activist Dr. Traci Armer Kurtzer at a gun buyback event two years ago.

"D.C. Pickett has been a respected leader throughout his career. He held countless roles in the department and built long lasting relationships with the community," said a note on EPD's Facebook page today. "He has truly cared for both the community and the department in his time here. D.C. Pickett will be deeply missed."

EPD Chief Demitrous Cook announced last week the promotion of Commander Jody Wright and Commander Melissa Sacluti to Deputy Chief. They will fill the deputy chief positions vacated by former Deputy Chief Joe Dugan, who retired in January, and Deputy Chief James Pickett. They'll join Deputy Chief Aretha Barnes as the department's deputy chiefs.
