Happy Hanukah to all who celebrate.

1932. Kiel, Germany. Rabbi Dr. Akiva Posner and his wife Rachel displayed their Hanukah menorah in the window of their home, directly across from the Nazi headquarters.

And, on the back of the photo Rachel inscribed…

“Chanukah, 5692. ‘Judea dies’, thus says the banner. ‘Judea will live forever’, thus respond the lights.”

An inspiring story of courage, faith, and resistance in the face of hate and fascism.

Thanks, Simona Shifra Citron, for this photo and story.

Happy Hanukah to all who celebrate.

חג שמח !
