Race, housing, and life in Evanston before desegregation: talking to Elders of The Village
To mark life-long Evanston resident Mr. Roy King's 92nd birthday yesterday, I'm sharing an interview I did in 2017 with Mr. King, his sister Harriet, Bruce Allen King (his son), and Lonnie Wilson.
I love this interview. We covered so much ground, shared so many stories about race and Evanston, and Mr. King was so generous in sharing his life story with me.
If you have an hour today, please watch and listen.
And as always, thank you to Bruce and Lonnie for all they show and teach me.
