Toward repair and reconciliation

I'm honored and excited to participate in this event on Tuesday night with Robin Rue Simmons, 5th Ward Alderman, Kamm Howard, national co-chair of N'COBRA (National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America), and Kathleen Anderson, N'COBRA chair for New England. We'll be talking to community members in Amherst, MA, led by Michele Miller of Amherst Mindfulness and Matthew Andrews who are working to bring reparations to their city.

Stay tuned for more news about what Dear Evanston is planning coming up in Evanston starting early next year for white and non-Black allies who support reparations:

-- Reparations Ambassadors/small group discussions;

-- Events, activities, speakers;

-- Panel discussions;

-- Learning about Evanston's deep and rich Black history;

-- Learning more about the five categories for reparations ((1) restitution, (2) compensation, (3) rehabilitation, (4) satisfaction, and (5) guarantees of non- repetition and how you can get involved;

and of course

-- The ongoing opportunity to contribute financially to reparations.

Interested in getting involved? There'll be lots of ways to support!

Please email me at dearevanston@gmail.com so we can get your name on the list.

NOTE: our work will be directed at white and non-Black Evanstonians who support -- or want to learn more about -- reparations, but of course everyone is welcome!
