Evanston celebrates Kwanzaa

December 27, 2018

Thank you, Gilo Kwesi Cornell Logan, Tim Rhoze, Evanston Township High School (ETHS)'s Toly Walker and her spoken-word students, dancers Mama Julie and Mama Miah Logan, and everyone who packed the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, for such a beautiful night sharing Kwanzaa as a community last night.

If you missed the event--here's a video recap.

Make sure to watch from start to finish to learn all about the origins of Kwanzaa, its symbols, and the seven principles (Umoja, unity; Kujichagulia, self-determination; Ujima, collective work and responsibility; Ujamaa, cooperative economics; Nia, purpose; Kuumba, creativity; and Imani, faith) it celebrates.
