WildBunch2 invites you to put on your mask and masquerade from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. at Firehouse Grill on Saturday, October 26 to support college trunks for first year students in need

October 13, 2019

Elizabeth Sayles, Valerie Wideman, Beverly Robinson , Paula Williams, Angela Johnson, Kimberly Frazier, and Sandra Wimberly-Wright are a Wild Bunch!

Earlier this year, these eight Evanston women started a nonprofit endeavor to raise money to purchase college essentials for Black high school graduates and graduates of color whose families are tight on resources and who are heading to their first year of college.

The organization fills college trunks with supplies for a dorm room, personal hygiene items, and school supplies.

"We want to ensure that every young adult is prepared to learn and succeed by preparing 'Welcome To the Trunk Party' trunks filled with the necessary essentials to attend college," Elizabeth Sayles told me. "By helping to eliminate this problem for struggling families who are already dealing with financial hardships and burdens, we can help remove the stress by providing what they need to succeed in school."

To date, they've supported three students this way and plan to increase their numbers by two to four students every year.

"We will also follow the students through the year by sending them care packages. Our first care packages will go out in November--a box of goodies," Elizabeth explained.

For just $20 ($25 at the door) and a lot of fun, you can help support this important cause.

To purchase tickets in advance, visit Paula Williams at Hair by Paula at 1829 Emerson Street, or Elizabeth Sayles at 4835 Birchwood Avenue in Skokie. You can contact Elizabeth on Facebook at "Party Over Here" with Elizabeth.

If you can't attend, but would like to donate, please email plan_you_event@yahoo.com.
