Adults who live, work, or worship in Evanston are invited (encouraged!) to take part in racial healing circles led by YWCA Evanston/North Shore at various sites throughout Evanston, January 21 to 24.
What is a Racial Healing Circle?
It is a session consisting of both group interactions and smaller, more intimate conversations between two partners.
The experience relies on intentional listening. It may be an emotional, even transformational, experience for participants, as conversations can unearth truths and conscious and unconscious biases.
It can also raise awareness, consciousness, compassion and empathy among those who participate.
Racial healing practitioners are responsible for helping to ensure that these circles are confidential safe spaces for participants to have truthful conversations with one another.
Racial healing circles will comprise groups of 30 people or fewer who will meet for one 2.5-hour session at various locations throughout the city. They will be led by trained practitioners.
How can you participate?
Participation in the healing circles is free, but registration by January 16 is required.
